The Time Travelers Wife directed by Robert Schwentke is about a man named Henry who has every person's dream, to travel through time. But there is a downside to this ability, Henry can't control when he travels or where he travels to. Since he was a young boy he has been hopping to the future and back again. Throughout his travels, he keeps meeting one special person, a girl named Claire. Claire meets Henry for the first time in a meadow behind her house when she's just 6 years old, but it seems that Henry has seen Claire many times before. Claire begins to like Henry, but of course when Henry tells Claire he's a traveler, she's skeptical. So in a second, he disappears right before her eyes. The next thing you know, Claire is about 21 years old and Henry is working in a library where Claire happens to be at the time. She finally gets to see Henry again. They go out for dinner at Henry's favorite restaurant, where Claire shows Henry her diary. But in that diary she didn't just write about hopes and dreams, she wrote about each time she's met him in the past. The last time her being 18. Henry realizes that Claire isn't just a girl in his hectic life of traveling, she's a special event. He loves her. After traveling once more he realizes he needs to marry Claire. So he proposes. Like every movie she says yes. Right before and after the wedding, he travels, then again on the wedding night. It's happening too much. When Claire gets pregnant and has a miscarriage several times, she and Henry realize something awful... Their child might be a traveler, just like it's father.




The main theme of this movie is most likely be careful what you wish for. The biggest example of this is that Claire had wanted to marry Henry since she met him, and when she finally did. She was unhappy. Another example is that while Henry longed to keep the miscarriage from happening by having a bisectemy, when he traveled to the passed, it just happened again. So this movie just proves to be very very careful about what you wish for, cause you just might get your wish.




I would recommend his movie to anyone who has every had a crush on anyone. It just goes to show that true love can happen even in the worst case scenario. I would also recommend this movie to anybody looking for a good puzzle to solve because while watching this movie you may get confused on where Henry is traveling and why. I would not recommend this movie for kids under the age of 9 because of suggestive scenes. But otherwise this movie is appropriate for all ages ( PG-13) I really though this movie could have been better but it was well made. I enjoyed it, will you?
