Debate Five Paragraph Essay: Free Laptops in Class?

Are free laptops worth all the suffering? With all the students goofing off, there's bound to be a broken laptop. Getting on those unblocked innapropriate sites, they'll just get taken away. Just think about those irresposible kids with laptops. Something bad is just waiting to happen. So the answer is no. That's why I think there should be no free laptops in class.

With free laptops in class, students will just waste time. Instead of working, they'll just go and play games. They may also just mess around with the settings. Even if the students are instructed to do homework, they probably won't. So it's no really worth all the supervison to get laptops.

Even with blocks for innapropriate sites, students can still get on unblocked innapropriate sites. For example, some sites, like Myspace and Facebook, are blocked, but sites like Yearbook and Zwinky, are'nt. So even if you block the common sites, there are still innapropriate sites out there still unblocked. Also, there are ways, to get past parental blocks, and kids are the most likely to figure out a way. Plus, if you manage to get on Myspace, you can do countless of innapropriate things on that site, such as hurtful or innapropriate posting of pictures of words. So even if our free laptops had blocks on them, they can still be broken through.

People can be really irresposible with laptops, especially if they didn't pay for them. If you broke your laptop by accident, and you're forced to pay, what will you do if you can't pay? Also, what would happen if you forgot your laptop at home? Since you use your laptop all the time you probably won't have a pencil and paper with you. Then you have the opprutunity to misuse your computer too, using it for personal reason instead of school reasons. You'll just fall even farther behind! Even with supervision, laptops can be misused and abused. Is it worth it? The answer is NO.

We should all say no to laptops in class. It is not worth all the pain for the teachers from students goofing off, being innaproriate, and being irresposible. We should all be happy! Save yourself the pain! No laptops in class!
